Acupuncture will bring back balance in your body if it is broken. It is like a complimentary device to whatever your body may be lacking. Based on the Chinese country system (which I will talk about in my next article) acupuncture is based on balance and compliments between internal organs in your body. It has 3 stages: The assessment, inserting needles to the points in the body and prescription of herbs.

I went to see Dr. Henry Su in Wellington last week. I think this will be the last time I see him before I am going to live back in Israel. This time I have filmed the process of this ancient treatment on video and it will soon show on my blog. I also interviewed Henry and asked him about the relation between acupuncture and exercise. Henry says that exercise is important for regular maintenance of the body, if you do only acupuncture you will see little or no results. But if you combine this treatment together with proper exercises and diet then you have yourself a winning combination that will be very hard to break. This combination is perfect for your body because it provides your internal organs exactly what they need. When all your internal functioning organs are happy, your body is happy and your mind is happy. You are a health person. A very healthy person.

Here are the three parts of this winning formula and why you should take at least exercising and proper diet into your daily life:

  1. Acupuncture: If you get sick, and you go to see a Chinese doctor, he or she will do an assessment to your body. This assessment is made of three ways that all compliment each other: Questions – the doctor will ask you how you feel, sleep, if you have any pain, how is your bowels, your moods, etc. Checking your pulse – the doctor will check pulse both in your left and right wrists, because each hand is linked to different organs inside the body. looking at your tongue – the tongue is the map of the body. according to its color, thickness, width and how many cracks in has the Chinese doctor can tell a lot about how much nutrition your body is taking from the food you eat.
  2. Exercise: Doing the right exercise is important for hormone building, combating free radicals, creation of anti-oxidants, heart rate training and many other important bodily functions. Exercise is also part of the Chinese philosophy as it is complimenting acupuncture. If you do not exercise, those Chinese needles cannot keep your body healthy by them selves.
  3. Diet: Diet alone can throw the balance you may have achieved in the two methods described above. If you eat a lot of junk food all the time, no alternative medicine or exercise in the world can keep you Healthy. Proper diet is important for a healthy body and mind. I have shown in previous articles the classic example for this. Craig Ballantyne, author of Turbulence Training was sprinting on a treadmill at 11 mile per hour, which is very fast. He had another person just beside him who ate… pizza. This was the calorie competition. In 3.5 minutes Ballantyne burnt about 45 calories. the pizza man added 800 calories to his body. It was all stored as fat. The point is that if you eat bad, you may as well not bother exercising or pursue any alternative medicine

Acupuncture is Like The Chinese Emperor

Acupuncture is more than 3000 years old. It is based on the Chinese country system that rule the country. The emperor has a prime minister who has ministers who has assistants and so on. They all work together and compliment each other and this is how a great country like China is keep on going. Every part in the country’s system is responsible for a section of functionality in the country. It is the same with acupuncture.

Every country has a system that built on levels of responsibility. The ministry of education is responsible for the smooth running of our education system and so is every other ministry. They all have the power to make decisions and dictate if we live in a healthy country or a corrupt, sick country. The same applies to acupuncture. When your Chinese doctor prescribe you with herbs, he or she does this, based on an assessment they have done before hand. They now know what organs need strengthening in your body and they will put together a bag full of herbs that are grown in China specifically for this purpose. Each of these herbs will add something to your body, each herb will work on a single organ in your body and together they will heal your body.

I have been taking acupuncture treatments for the last 15 years. The first time I approached this healing method it was because of a mental problem I had. Acupuncture is a 3000 years old method of healing the body. It is done by inserting needles into imaginary energy channels called meridians that running through the body thus increasing energy levels. When I go to see Dr. Henry Su I feel at ease. As soon as I enter his clinic, an aroma of herbs hits my senses, it is such a nice smell that this alone makes me feel better. Losing Weight Requires Fat and Calorie burning

When you exercise, a few things happen inside your body that cause you to sweat, increase your heart rate and blood pressure and burn calorie and fat. You can do exercises like abs exercises or treadmill jogging. These are very common but many people stop doing them sooner rather than later because they do not see results. You can also do exercises which are more fast paced, and that work different muscle group and burn fat and calories even when you sleep up to two days after workout.

Here are 3 exercises that are totally different from your usual abs exercises but will workout your abs ten times more:

  1. Dumbbell rows. Position your self in a push-up position with the hands on two dumbbells. Then row one dumbbell up towards the side of your body while stabilizing your body with the other arm. Bring the dumbbell back to the ground and alternate the rowing arm while stabilizing with the opposite arm.

    This stabilizing effect during the rows creates incredible work for your entire midsection core area. Trust me… you’ll feel it in the abs! Do 3-4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise, or 5 sets of 5 reps.

  2. Front squats. Stabilize the barbell on your shoulders by crossing your arms and pushing your fists into the bar against your shoulders and keep your elbows strait out in front of your body. It is very important to perform front squats properly otherwise you may cause yourself an injury, so a good idea is to seek professional advise from a personal trainer about how to do this the right way. Front squats require extreme stabilization strength from the abs due to the barbell weight being shifted to the front of the body instead of the back. Even though this is mostly a leg exercise, you’ll feel this one in the abs big time! Sets are the same as dumbbell rows.

  3. Mountain climbers. Position yourself in a push-up position and spread your feet apart about shoulder wide. Start shuffling your feet in and out while positioning your knees under your chest when your feet comes up. alternate between your feet as quickly as possible, it looks like you are climbing a mountain. An advanced version of this would be shuffling your hands in and out about 10 inches together with your feet. Doing mountain climbers will workout your entire body, and is actually much harder than real mountain climbing. Do a set of 30 seconds and rest.

To get your body burning fat and calorie to the max, alternate between all 3 exercises, to make a “super-set”, this way you will get maximum results. Do 3-4 sets of a mix of all 3 exercises and rest for 30 seconds after each exercise before you start the next exercise. After each set, rest for about 1-2 minutes and start the next set.

There are some fats and oils which can be found on the food store shelf that I would not even put in my lawn mower. I will show you why below. Many chronic diseases started occur in the 50’s since all that stuff was produced in the first place. Here are some interesting facts about those fats and why you should avoid them at all cost to stay healthy:

  • Hydrogenated oils. These are trans fats that have been mixed with many deadly chemicals, they have been subject to ridiculously high pressure and temperature, they had industrial solvents added to them as well as a metal catalyst to promote an artificial hydrogenation, and to finish it off they were bleached and had deodorizing agents added to them. Majority of people in the world uses those oils in their home kitchens for cooking food. The results is inevitable wide spread chronic diseases and just general poor health. The sub-results is sky rocketing pharmaceutical companies share market. The solution: Next time you go to the store avoid any product that has even some hydrogenated oil of any kind in them such as margarine, (butter is much healthier than margarine), or shortening of any kind.   • Refined oils. Even canola oils that considered healthy are refined oils. All refined oils went through the same process as hydrogenated oils. They undergo high pressure and temperature, solvent extraction, bleaching and deodorizing processes. Unless it says “virgin” or “cold expeller pressed” it is refined. Vegetable oil that has gone through all this abusive process lost its natural structure of fats, natural antioxidants, gained a lot of free radicals in its structure and is basically a super damaged product that should not be consumed by humans or any living creature.
  • Therefore, you should avoid at all cost: Anything deep fried. tortilla chips, potato chips, French fries, donuts, fried chicken, chicken nuggets, etc. All of this crap shouldn’t even pass as real food in my opinion!
  • Homogenized milk fat – Milk fat is a very healthy fat in its natural raw state. Milk and beef from grass fed organically raised cows is known to have higher quantities of healthy fats like conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3 fatty acids compared with grain fed cows. Traditional populations around the world have thrived in perfect health while consuming huge quantities of raw, non-pasteurized, non-homogenized, full fat dairy products. Once again, food processing ruins a good thing by pasteurizing and homogenizing milk fat, rendering it potentially dangerous inside the human body. Unfortunately, you will find it almost impossible to find raw milk in the US unless you personally know a farmer. As an alternative, cultured dairy products like yogurt have at least had beneficial microorganisms added back to them making them better for you. Realistically, since you probably won’t find raw milk, sticking to skim milk is the best option to avoid the homogenized milk fat. If you use butter for cooking, your best option is grass-fed butter.

We have cells in our body. Those cells need to be nourished by good nutritious food to remain healthy, Once cells in our body get damaged we get sick, we develop chronic diseases, and the funny thing is that if we then start eating well we sometimes get over our chronic disease, so it is only then that we realize what we should do right. Here are 7 Fat Foods that are Healthy for You.

  1. Coconut fat. With about 92% saturated fat it is considered a healthy natural fat. Traditional Pacific Islanders literally lived on coconuts and never gained fat or suffered from a chronic disease. Coconut fat contain something called “medium chain triglycerides” or MCT, it has about 65% of that stuff. To explain MCT in simple words it will enhance your immune system, and will be utilized for energy very quickly rather than being stored as fat. In fact, some studies have shown that MCTs helps in the process of excess calorie burning, and weight loss. Patients that have malnutrition or Mal-absorption syndromes are treated with MCTs because they do not require energy for absorption, utilization, or storage.   2. Extra virgin olive oil. Do not compromise and buy light olive oil or any other type but extra virgin. What that means is that the olives were cold pressed and the oil you buy is the very first press of the olives, so you also get the freshest oil that comes out of them as well as the highest amount of anti-oxidants olives contain. Olive oil is about 71%monounsaturated, 16%saturated and 13%polyunsaturated fat. I love making salad and add to it – salt, pepper, lemon juice from lemons, (not ready made juice) and a lot of extra virgin olive oil. Mix is all together and boy oh boy let me tell you, it is so tasty.
  3. Dark bittersweet chocolate. I started eating chocolate. I never used to, but now that I know how much an excellent source of anti-oxidants cocoa is, I make it a habit to nibble on a couple of squares every day. Make sure you buy a bittersweet chocolate that has a minimum of 70% cocoa content. The fat in cocoa (cocoa butter) is a great source of natural healthy fat. It is made of 3% polyunsaturated fat, 59% saturated fat and 38% monounsaturated fat. If you think about it, a minimum of 70% cocoa content leave very little room for sugar and other poisons so you know you getting a good product. Look for chocolate that lists its cocoa content as Chocolove Extra Dark 77% or Dagova New Moon 74%. The last thing to remember is that although bittersweet chocolate is healthy it is still calorie dense so eat only a couple of squares per day.

Health Fat – Is Fat Really Good For Us and What Are Health Foods

In many of my previous articles I explained why eating a well balanced meal 5-6 times a day is the number one factor you should look at when trying to lose weight. A balanced meal comprised from all three macro-nutrients, healthy dietary fats, protein and carbs. Healthy dietary fats is vitally important for your health and proper cell function. If you eat avocados, walnuts, coconuts, organic butter, chocolate made of minimum of 70% cocoa mass and use extra virgin olive oil, coconut milk or palm oil, you consume healthy dietary fats. All this happened because the food those populations ate was natural. It was free of chemicals and other substances that encourages our body to store fat, so they remained lean

Bread Carb and Why You Are Getting Fat

Carbohydrates from bread, pasta and other high carbs foods are broken in your system and add to your blood sugar level. This is all depends on how mach carbohydrate you ate and how fast it is being digested. Then your pancreas will secrete an insulin in order to carry excess sugar away from the blood circulation into your liver, muscles or stomach. This all depends where it can find room for it to be stored.

Here is The Problem

If your muscle and liver glycogen stores are stocked up, the insulin will store the excess blood sugar as fat into your stomach if you are a man or your thighs and hips if you are a woman. There is only one time where your muscle glycogen stores have room for that blood sugar and that is after a good workout. That is when your muscles actually need that excess blood sugar and other nutrients it has, to replenish and help build it.

It is recommended to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day and include fat, carbohydrates and protein in each meal. It is also recommended to consume your carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables rather than other carbs foods, because of the quality and quantity of carbohydrates in them. Another aspect of this is what you combine your carbohydrates with in your meal. For example a banana is a fruit high in carbohydrates so if eaten on its own it will quickly raise your blood sugar level but if you combine it with healthy fats and protein you will not get such a high blood sugar response.

Good Carbs and Bad Carbs

Here are some foods to avoid and some that are good in terms of carbohydrates concentration:

Avoid: white rice, white bread, white potatoes, corn flakes, crispy rice cereals, sugars, ice cream, bananas, cooked carrots, candy, cakes.

Eat: dairy products, fruits, vegetables, whole unrefined grains and sprouted grains, sweet potatoes, barley, beans.

Bread (especially the white type) is high with carbohydrates, so it is recommended to avoid it as much as possible. I decided to avoid bread all together as I drink MonaVie on a regular basis which is a juice composed of 19 different fruits so it is high with carbs as well as a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. The other day I felt like some eggs and I wanted to have some bread and butter with it, yum! So I pan fried my self 3 eggs and had a couple of slices of brown bread with it. Before I finished my meal I felt sick, my stomach was aching and I wanted to throw up. Let me tell you: I eat eggs almost every day and never feel sick at all, so that lead me to think it was that bread which was fresh by the way, that hurt my stomach. My body got used to live well with no bread, and it did it very quickly, so now bread would almost be like a foreign object my body and system do not like.

Workout at Home – Save Gym Fees

You really do not need much equipment to get fit, if you concentrate on sprints and other exercises that will create a faster metabolism in your body then all you really need is a stability ball, some dumbbells and your body weight. There are endless body weight exercises that will get you great results if you do them properly. As for stability ball, dumbbells and a mat, simply go to your local fitness shop and buy them there, I mean, I live in New Zealand and bought mine on Trademe which is an auction site, I believe you can get it where ever you are online through an auction site as well. Here in New Zealand Dollar a stability ball cost me $10, the mat was $10 and the second hand dumbbells which are 4kg each where $8. So for about $30 I got my self fully equipped. Here are some of the body weight, stability ball and dumbbell exercises you can do AT HOME:

  1. Stability ball knee bend. Lie in a push-up position where your legs rest on a stability ball. Now bend your knees while you roll the ball towards you and your knees come close to your chest and straighten your knees back out. This exercise workout your abs and core. It is great for stability and fat and calorie burn
  2. Dumbbell rows. Again in a push-up position you hold a dumbbell in each hand and then bring your right hand while holding the dumbbell to your side then put it back down on the floor and row up with your left hand. You will feel that in your back, abs and core.
  3. Body weight squats. When doing squats you want to make sure your head and knees does not pass the edge of your tows. SO stand with feet on shoulder length and then squat down. The best practice if you just starting doing squats is to stand facing a wall in your house. Stand as close as possible to the wall and then squat down. Your knees and head will never go past your tows. Squat until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
  4. Floor mountain climbers. This exercise done on a push-up position again. Once in the position bring one foot to your chest and stretch it back out and now bring the other foot. Now you know why it is called mountain climbers done on floor.
  5. Push-up variations. depending on the level of your fitness, push-ups can be done in various ways. The easiest is when you throw your body weight on the edge of a table and do push-ups this way, through normal push-ups on the floor all the way up to positioning your feet on a higher surface than the floor doing push-ups that way. The higher your feet are up the more difficult the exercise is.
  6. Stability ball-dumbbells swings. This is a great exercise where you combine both a stability ball and your dumbbells. Lie on a stability ball on your back so you face up towards the ceiling. Hold a dumbbell or two in your hands, make sure both your hands holds the same dumbbell and that your arms are shooting straight up towards the ceiling, now while keeping your arms straight start swinging them from side to side. A great exercise that will work your entire core.
  7. Once you get to a good level of fitness, I would say about 6-8 time, you can combine a few reps from each of those exercises I just gave you.

If you keep doing those exercises 3-4 times per week you will start sooner rather than later seeing some great results in terms of fat loss, and abs development.

So Why Not Workout At Home Without Any Fancy Cardio Machines?!

I am going to show you how you can do all your workout in your own home. All the workout below is designed to increase your metabolism, increase your calorie and fat burning – primarily because it has a recovery period that lets your body rest and get you fit and happy. No cardio machines required here.

  1. Sprint up a hill. Sprinting up a hill is a killer workout because you push as hard as possible up hill. Sprinting takes some effort on the flat so you can imagine how much effort it takes if you try doing it up hill. It will strengthen your knees because of the movement your legs do when stepping up hill. After you got to the top of the hill, rest a couple of minutes to catch your breath, then walk slowly down hill, do not run, this is your recovery period. Up hill sprint will dramatically increase hormones in your body that responsible for muscle building and fat burning. It is an exercise that workout the biggest muscle group in your body. If you do just that, 3-4 times a week and repeat 3-4 times per workout you will see significant change in your body for the good. Now tell me what you prefer, to jog for half an hour mindlessly on a treadmill or sprint up hill?
  2. Sprint against the wind. It has the same effect as hill sprints and all you got to do is go to a park, mark your self 50, 75 or 100 yards and do your sprints against the wind. It is a killer sprint because you will have strong wind blowing at you and it will require you to put extra strength into the exercise. anywhere between 6 to 20 sprints per workout is good. Again you can do this 3-4 times a week.
  3. Body weight squats, lunges etc. These are done at home without stepping out the door. Squats, push-ups variations, lunges, and floor abs are all great for your metabolism increase. You do not even need weights here as your body weight acts as resistant just as good. Try do those workouts continuously for 15-30 minutes, with little or no rest in between each exercise.
  4. Rope skipping. This is a great full body workout, where you skip a rope just like when you were young at primary school. Doing it fast makes it a killer exercise. Get yourself one of those cheap plastic ropes, as they are easier to use and swing faster than the fabric ones which makes your skipping a lot faster thus create a better effect in terms of fat and calorie burning as well as growth and testosterone hormone.
  5. Dumbbell rows. You would need to buy a pair of dumbbells for this one, and if you just starting your workout then a 4kg per dumbbell is enough to start with. If you are more advanced then you know what weight works best for you. Get into a push-up position where you hold a dumbbell at each hand. Now start rowing, a dumbbell at a time. Simply bring your right hand up to the side of your body while holding the other dumbbell on the floor then bring it back down to the floor and row up with the other hand. This will work on your abs and entire core. Try keep your body still while rowing, it is hard and the more you do it the more you see results.

If you follow those exercises and do one or two of them 3-4 times a week you are guaranteed to see some great results because all of them work the entire range of muscles. Now, because of that you want to give your self a day or two of rest between each session because muscles need to rest. If you work your muscles everyday as hard as you can you are guaranteed to cause your self an injury that will put you out of your training for months. Toxins in Your Food Are Worth Than the Toxic Tarp Money

I read “Conspiracy of The Rich” by Robert T Kiyosaki. I already read it once and am going over it now for the second time because I want to understand every word Robert writes about in his book. * Organic is always better. I know there are some so called researches that point out that organic food is no better than no organic food. But once someone sprayed that earth with chemicals it significantly reduced the amount and quality of minerals inside that earth and that is not organic any more.
