Kosher Food is Good For You – Ask Your Rabbi
I have a friend who is the Rabbi of a small local Jewish community and obviously keeps kosher. He told me the other day that keeping kosher prevents him from eating junk food and makes him and his wife to only cook at home. This way they both know exactly what they are eating, and they keep safe from all sorts of poisonous preservatives and oils that enters junk food we buy at fast food joints.
Why Does Keeping Kosher is better For Your Health?
Khayim, the Wellington Jewish congregation Rabbi cannot eat out ever. The reason for that is that he keeps kosher. What does this mean? Khayim and Tova his wife must eat food that has a kosher stamp on it, it is food that went under a Rabbi’s supervision and found to be suitable to eat according to Jewish faith. Each type of food we eat, if it is meat, bread, some types of fruit, like grapes, and many other types, must be treated in a certain way to pass Jewish dietary law. A Rabbi is the figure to determine if a type of food is kosher or not.
Unfortunately, there is not even one restaurant or fast food joint in Wellington that holds a kosher certificate. The Rabbi cannot eat no kosher food therefore eating out is out for him and his wife. The outcome is a very healthy diet they keep, by default. Imagine that, they are ‘forced’ to lead a healthy life style. Now I am not saying to you that you should keep kosher. I am a Jewish man my self, but do not live a religious life or keep kosher. But what I am saying is that you got to look carefully into what you eat. Pizza, fries, nuggets, (in fact any deep fried food for that matter), cakes, candy, chocolate, soda, alcohol in excess amounts etc…are all JUNK food. When consuming them you insert into your body rubbish, or junk in dietary lingo.
When you think about the negative effects on your body you probably will not do it. So the more you educate yourself the more you keep fit and healthy.
Kosher is A Hebrew Word That Means Fitness
In Hebrew we say kosher. It means fitness. In English you go to the gym. In Hebrew you go to the KHEDER KOSHER. Kheder means room, kosher means fitness. Get it? So eating kosher means you eat food which is fit to eat, it is got the OK from an expert which is a Rabbi in this case to be passed as food. There are many foods on store shelves which should never have passed as food that is fit to eat. The key is to educate your self and know what junk food can do to your body, because the more you know the more careful you are in what you eat and the more healthy and fit you are in life. You will keep kosher without even knowing about it.
